A Diversified Kansas Farming Operation
Sandy Knoll Farm operates a diversified farming enterprise alongside our Registered Gelbvieh cattle herd. Like many progressive producers, we integrate cropping and livestock systems to enhance soil health and land productivity. Our practices are designed to support both crop performance and cattle productivity while prioritizing soil stewardship—a commitment we take seriously and are proud of.
We use grid soil sampling across our acres to guide fertility decisions with precision agriculture techniques. This data-driven approach ensures nutrients are applied exactly where they’re needed, improving efficiency, reducing waste, and protecting soil resources. By aligning fertility with actual field conditions, we build resilient forage and cropping systems that directly support herd health and performance.
Additionally, we leverage available technology throughout the growing season, including NDVI imagery, in-field tissue testing, and water monitoring on irrigated land to promote efficient water use. These tools help us detect variability early, make timely management decisions, and continually refine our practices for better results.
